Amy’s Advice: Motivation Mindset

Are you lacking motivation to move?
One of the best ways to rekindle that spark is to change your mindset. When I’m preparing for a race, I have a specific goal and a specific time frame (SMART) which helps me stay focused and motivated to train. When I get into training mode my mindset shifts. I’m no longer going through the motions in an attempt to lose/maintain weight, but instead I have a great desire to put in the effort because of the end goal. My mindset shifts and I start thinking of myself as an athlete in training. There is something very powerful in saying the words I am an athlete in training.
If you’re lacking motivation…sign up for a race! It doesn’t matter what stage of your journey you’re in. And don’t worry, you don’t have to run, you don’t have to come in first, you don’t even have to wear running shorts! But you DO have to change your mindset and start thinking of yourself as an athlete in training because YOU ARE!
