How to get started with intermittent fasting for weight loss

Intermittent fasting involves periods of entirely or partially abstaining from eating. There are many methods of intermittent fasting that vary in the number of fast days and the calorie allowances.

If you are interested in trying intermittent fasting, I recommend going slow. There’s no reason to jump right to 16 hours on day one. If it is too uncomfortable for you, you’re setting up for failure. So, start slow and stay smart.


There are a few different ways to do intermittent fasting, two of the most common are listed below. For more questions on fasting, it is advised that you speak with one of our providers at your next visit.


1. Fast for 12 hours a day

a. Fast 12 hours out of the day, leaving an eating window of 12 hours.


2. Fast for 16 hours a day

a. Fast 16 hours out of the day, leaving an eating window of 8 hrs. AKA Leangains Diets
